Clifford Buck History
In 1923 Clifford Buck Sr, founded the Clifford Buck Construction Company. Little did he know it would grow to be one of the Industry Leaders in the West Michigan area.
Clifford Sr. was later joined by his son Clifford Jr, and brother Bob, and the company was one of a small fraternity of contractors building in the Muskegon area. Jeff Buck, joined the family business at the age of 15, working as a general laborer, and soon became a union brick layer. He has worked his entire life at Clifford Buck Construction Company, becoming the President at the age of 29, when his father passed away unexpectedly.
Jeff Buck is still at the helm as President and Clifford Buck Construction Company continues to be major force in building the “NEW MUSKEGON” and building in the West Michigan area.

- Monitor Subcontractor safety.
All Clifford Buck Construction Company employees have recently received additional training in Asbestos Awareness, and Certification in lift equipment and operations.
All of our foremen on the jobsites are certified with CPR and First Aid Training.
Clifford Buck Construction Company continues to have one of the “BEST” safety records in the industry in our areas, as evidence of our excellent Experience Modification Rate (EMR).

Our Team
JEFF BUCK - Owner and President , Jeff has worked at Clifford Buck Construction Company since the age of 15, beginning as a union laborer. Jeff has seen his FAMILY business grow, from a company that “Did it ALL” providing all services to their clients with their own work force, to providing new services which include CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT, GENERAL CONTRACTING, as well as GENERAL TRADES services. Jeff continues to oversee major new projects and renovations at BAKER COLLEGE and L-3 COMMUNICATIONS.
ROBERT HERRMANN - Bob started his career with Clifford Buck Construction Company in 1978 as a union laborer. He then entered into the Carpentry Apprentice Program and received his journeyman’s card as a carpenter. In order to expand his career in the construction industry, Bob earned a Construction Management Degree from Ferris State University.
Bob has overseen projects at the Muskegon Country Club, numerous schools & churches in the area and was the Project Manager for the new Hages Christian Bookstore. He is now working on several major renovations projects at Brunswick Pool and Billiards, Mercy General Hospital, and is currently the Project Manager for a new branch for the Independent Bank, plus a new branch office for the Muskegon Governmental Federal Employees Credit Union.
ANDY ZORN - Andy joined Clifford Buck Construction Company in 2000 as a project manager. He also graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Architectural Technology and Construction Management. His professional affiliations are: Associated General Contractors of America – as a member of the Labor Relations Division Executive Committee, Ferris State University – Advisory Committee for the Construction Management Program, and is a member of the St. Francis De Sales Church Building Committee. Andy was the project manager on the Hackley Hospital new Emergency Room expansion, the Parmenter O’Toole Law Offices, the new Muskegon Commerce Bank, Norton Dental Building, and West Shore Urology. Andy is currently the project manager for the new Muskegon Chamber of Commerce/Hines Building and the new Orthopedic Associates of Muskegon Building. He also oversees all the work we do at Hackley Hospital, and their affiliated buildings.
JIM GEBOLYS - Jim brings real world experience to our projects by providing a wealth of knowledge with over 25 years of construction experience. Beginning his career as a residential carpenter Jim quickly moved up through the ranks.
Studying Architectural/Industrial Design engineering, while attending Muskegon Community College, he interned at the Muskegon County Waste Water System and was recognized as a creative design leader. It was here that his industrial career took off. The local chemical industry is where he gained his mechanical experience. Working with various engineering firms as a process piping designer consulting at: DU-Pont & Parke-Davis, Bofors-Lakeway, Sun Chemical and ESCO. The Sappi Paper Company, (formally S. D. Warren) is where Jim made his impact as an Engineering Technician by developing machine upgrades, overseeing safety compliance, process piping installations, maintenance and building expansions. Jim worked on many local industry expansions’ including: Acemco Automotive, Muskegon Township Fire stations, JH Campbell, Covert PG & E Power Plants. Municipal projects including the City Of Wyoming ’s D.K. Shine expansion and most notably as the on site Project Manager for the City Of Muskegon ’s Water Plant. A three year, eighteen million dollar expansion project where distinctive creativity and leadership, resulted in a very successful project. Currently James is the Project Superintendent for the new 16 million dollar Mercy Surgery Center/Rehabilitation & Orthopedic Association Of Muskegon, expected to be completed next summer. These past diverse project experiences have provided Jim with a big picture view of how complex projects are run; with the importance of clear, prompt communication and attention to detail.
JOY BARTEN - Joy joined the staff of Clifford Buck Construction Company in 2001, as the office manager, secretary, accountant, receptionist, “do it all” gal. Joy handles the Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, Payroll, Accounting and is also the company Safety Director, watching out for the welfare of “her guys”. Although Joy doesn’t have any fancy degree, she did get her accounting education at Baker College and brought with her 20 years of previous experience in the accounting field. When you call Clifford Buck Construction, chances are you will be greeted by the “JOY” of our office.
